Overview
Blessed Sacrament is a four-form entry Catholic Primary School based in the heart of Liverpool.
In late 2021, Blessed Sacrament Primary School approached us to design and install two Multi Sensory Rooms for their KS1 and KS2 pupils. This was part of a large-scale refurbishment project to enhance the schools offering to the local community.
Project Brief
The goal established for the project was to create two Multi Sensory Rooms designed to both enrich the development of the pupils along with helping to regulate and/or stimulate their senses. Therefore, a flexible platform was the key to success.
As part of the design process, our in-house designers ensured that each room was curated to meet all of the requirements of the school, whilst adding a few extras to ensure that the children experienced the best sensory experience available.
Sensory Installation Process
As the sensory room installation was part of a larger refurbishment, our services team liaised with the main contractors on behalf of Blessed Sacrament Primary School to ensure a smooth installation process.
KS1 Sensory Room
This room was designed for children aged between 5 and 7 years old with Autism and includes a range of visual, sound and tactile equipment along with Soft Padding to ensure the children are comfortable whilst using the system.
Key features of the room included the interactive Borealis Tube and mood lighting. The children can control both of these products using the Four Way Hand Switch and Cube Switch, respectively. In addition, our engineers fitted an Interactive Infinity Tunnel that responds to sounds, a Solar Projector, a Fibre Optic Curtain and a Bluetooth Sound System.
KS2 Sensory Room
This room was designed for children aged between 7-11 years old with Autism and includes a well-balanced mix of traditional and software-controlled equipment. Like the KS1 room, we also included soft padded seating and covered a section of the floor in padding for comfort.
The KS2 room features an Interactive Fanlight which responds to sound, an interactive UV Tactile Panel that fluoresces under UV light along with a media projector and Interactive Sensor Floor system that features over 250 games for the children to enjoy.
Sensory Room Training
Shortly after completing installation of the rooms, our engineers returned to Blessed Sacrament Primary School to provide a dedicated training session for the staff. The training ensures that the school can get the most out of their new sensory environment and provide the ultimate sensory experience for the children.
Client Feedback
Blessed Sacrament Primary School work closely with the local councils, governing bodies and wider community to ensure their school is accessible to all. We’re delighted to have been involved with the project and now they have two sensory rooms for their pupils to enjoy!
Overall, we are extremely proud of the results at Blessed Sacrament Primary School and over the moon with the feedback from the client.
Thank you so much for what we now have at Bless Sacrament Primary! It’s incredible and I am so glad that we did business with you. From start to finish you have been an excellent team to deal with. If there’s any chance in the future that we can expand any element of our sensory offer in school, I will definitely be in touch.
