Sensory Technology at Linden Lodge School
The Interactive Corridor is predominantly based around auditory stimulation, with noises being activated as you walk through different parts of the corridor. As you come in the main entrance there is a 'Welcome to the Harris Centre' message that plays. With a similar message playing as you enter the Sensory Suite area. Each classroom in turn then has a noise that plays as you enter them. These feature a variety of musical instruments including a gong and the bongos!
The corridor is also the home of the Resonance Beanbag which is quite large, but can be moved around the centre. It is linked into its own CD player & amplifier to allow the whole system to remain portable. This is a great product when any music with bass is played through the CD player, allowing the user to both hear and feel the vibrations of the sound.
A range of other sounds are included as you walk around the corridor including wind chimes which also has a fan to blow wind at you. All the sounds are activated by proximity sensors as you approach.
Lastly the room has a tall bubble screen at one end, which scrolls through red, green and blue, this product also activates as you approach it. The screen is active for a limited amount of time before it switches off, it can then be reactivated if a user is sitting in the area via a switch input on the side of the screen. This allows any switch with a jack plug to be used with the screen, meaning that switches appropriate for different pupils or their favourite switches can be plugged in.
As this room is based around sound there are limited images we can show you of the area, we have therefore included photos of the main products rather than a slideshow.
